Linda Smith-Day 9 in San Diego

Email from Linda & Duane:
We were on our way to check in at the hospital when we got a call that there weren't any beds as of yet, so, come in and we will take your blood and then you can go back to the Bannister House until a bed opens up. So, we went back and they finally called about 3 to come back. We have had more blood drawn, met with the anesthesiologist, cardiac, and surgical assistant. We are thinking about eating something because, haven't had anything since 9:30 and it is 6:30. The cardiac resident was super, she went step by step of what to expect. It is scary, but we like to know all the details. They said they would be in about 6 to start my day tomorrow. It takes the longest to cool my body down. They literally put a cold jacket around my heart and the cold slush to cool it and an ice pack on my head. Luckily you are asleep when this is happening. Then they proceed with the surgery and clean out the clots and they actually save them and take pictures of them and I get and number for posterity. They are actually on #2400 or so. Duane will send pictures too. Big day tomorrow, I'm a little scared, but a fellow from one of the wards down here is coming over to help Duane give me a blessing, so I can sleep and not be quite so nervous.
